We are just hours away from one of the biggest welterweight matchups of the year as current UFC champion Kamaru Usman defends his title against former teammate Gilbert Burns later this evening (Sat., Feb. 13, 2021) at UFC 258 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
For Usman, this will be his third-straight title defense at 170 pounds after winning the belt off Tyron Woodley back in 2019. Usman will also be looking to break one of Georges St-Pierre’s most coveted UFC records with a win over “Durinho.” It will be the fourth time in his last five fights that Usman is competing in “Sin City.”
As for Burns, he found himself in this spot after moving up to welterweight in 2019 and racking off four-straight wins, including a recent unanimous decision over Woodley back in May. The well-rounded Brazilian veteran is a former teammate of Usman’s and a fighter who should give the champ a run for his money at UFC 258.
Heading into tonight’s festivities the promotion has released the final episode of UFC 258 “Embedded,” which can be seen in the above video player. The behind-the-scenes action focuses on grueling weight cuts, official weigh ins, and a main event staredown that will raise the hair on your arms.
From the official YouTube description:
Headliners Gilbert Burns and champion Kamaru Usman finish their camps at the UFC Performance Institute. Kelvin Gastelum and opponent Ian Heinisch stay sharp in their hotel training areas. On Friday, everyone hits their marks at weigh-in, where athletes step on scale the face off.
