CyborgSantosEvangelista “Cyborg” Santos (18-13) says he was supposed to meet Paul “Semtex” Daley at the upcoming Strikeforce event in November. So it came as a complete surprise when the promotion announced the matchup between Daley and Scott Smith.

Speaking to Tatame.com, Santos said that he had agreed to face Daley but no fight agreement had been signed. He holds no grudge and is ready to face anyone Strikeforce put’s in front of him.

“I was as surprised as everybody else. The manager who also is out match maker said I’d fight Paul Daley in November, and that the winner would confront the winner between Nick Diaz and KJ Noons in February or March, but I was surprised to see that Daley will confront Smith.”

Did they tell you who your opponent will be?
“We haven’t spoken afterwards. They have told me I’d confront Paul Daley… I haven’t sign anything, but we have agreed about it, so… I’ll keep training anyway. I’m ready to fight anyone on this division. I really fit this weight division.”

“Cyborg” dropped to welterweight for his last fight and may have found his stride having stopped Marius Žaromskis in the first round of their Strikeforce: Los Angeles bout last June.
