A number of bouts were added to this October’s upcoming UFC on FX 5 event including a flyweight match between former bantamweight Darren Uyenoyama (8-3) and TUF 14 competitor Louis ‘Goodnight’ Gaudinot (6-2).
Officials with the promotion announced the news Wednesday evening at UFC.com.
With the first UFC flyweight champion about to be crowned, the new division is moving almost as fast as the athletes who compete in it. Joining the 125-pound ranks is Darren Uyenoyama, dropping from bantamweight to meet Louis Gaudinot. Both fighters are coming off career-best performances and looking to extend their hot streaks.
UFC on FX: Browne vs. Silva is expected to take place October 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The event is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva.
Uyenoyama had been scheduled to face John Dodson last May at UFC on FOX 3 but was forced off the card. The Californian born fighter debuted with the UFC at the first FOX event last November, defeating Japanese fighter Norifumi Yamamoto by decision. The victory was Uyenoyama’s second straight win and puts him at 3-1 over his last four.
Gaudinot fought at the FOX event in May, choking out John Lineker in the second round in the events “Fight of the Night” matchup. The win was Gaudinot’s first inside the Octagon after losing his debut at the TUF 14 Finale to Johny Bedford by TKO in a bantamweight bout. Gaudinot, who hales from New York, was a member of Team Bisping during the fourteenth season of the reality series.
