Bellator MMA recently announced that beginning in 2022, all non-title main events will be scheduled for five rounds moving forward. The decision comes on the heels of Bellator 267 which saw Michael Page defeat Douglas Lima via unanimous decision after three rounds of action (highlights).

Naturally, fight fans wanted to see more once the 15 minutes were up after Page was awarded the controversial unanimous decision win. Even “MVP” wanted more saying after the fight that he wants an immediate trilogy to be booked for a five round bout. And he will take that fight over a title shot against Yaroslav Amosov any day of the week.

Furthermore, after Yoel Romero concluded his three-round fight against Phil Davis at Bellator 265, he was caught off guard when he realized there would be no fourth and potentially a fifth round. While one can chalk that up to Yoel being Yoel, in his defense he was making his promotional debut and was coming over from UFC where all main events are scheduled for five rounds.

Nevertheless, there will be no more confusion once the new years rolls around. What do you think of the looming changes?
