Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight contender, Abel Trujillo, was arrested on mid-2019, in Broward County, Fla., after being charged with sexual exploitation of a child and felony obscenity.
Almost a year later, Trujillo has accepted a plea deal by pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of promoting obscenity according to a report from 9news. As a result, the charges of attempted sexual exploitation of a child, promotion of obscenity to a minor and sexual exploitation of a child – self/publish, were dropped.
According to the report, the victim in the case initially contacted police in 2018 after she revealed that Trujillo began sending her nude photos of himself via Instagram. Furthermore, she claims Trujillo constantly asked her to send him photos in return, but never specifically stated they be nude, though he frequently wanted to talk about sex during their conversations online. After blocking Trujillo on social media and going several months without further contact, the victim claimed she received more messages from the former UFC 155-pound contender.
After obtaining a search warrant, police officials found multiple nude photos of underage women on Trujillo’s phone in February of 2019, though the exact ages were not determined. Able admitted to authorities to sending nude pictures and was in contact with several women under the age of 18. He is set to be sentenced on April 6.
Trujillo was last seen competing at UFC on FOX 26 in December of 2017, losing to John Makdessi via unanimous decision, which was his second straight defeat.
