Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir talks to MMA 30 about his career, his current status within the UFC, as well as his upcoming fight with Roy “Big Country” Nelson at UFC 130. With the purchase of Strikeforce by Zuffa, Mir offers his thoughts on merging the two heavyweight divisions and why he thinks fighters like Alistair Overeem, will have trouble fighting in the octagon.

“With all the guys with the wrestling ability I don’t think Overeem will do as well as a lot of the fans would like him to do. Obviously the guy has won K-1, I can’t say enough about his standup. He is a great fighter, he has a pretty wicked guillotine, although I’ve only seen that at light-heavyweight… He’s been fighting in boxing rings and now going to fight in a cage … you have some guys like Velasquez or Carwin or Brock, they are going to change levels and push you against a cage and rip you down. Overeem is going to have to deal with the cage now and when you’re a striker, its an issue.”
