In a heavyweight rematch of their UFC 92 meeting back in 2008, Frank Mir was able to walk away the victor again at last nights (Dec. 10, 2011) UFC 140 co-main event bout in Toronto, Ontario versus Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

After getting tagged by the Brazilian, a “wobbled” Mir would survive the attempts by his opponent to finish him on the ground by securing a Kimura submission after some rolling as both men attempted to improve their position.

With Nogueira refusing to tap, Mir was forced to apply further pressure to his opponents arm breaking it to end the fight at 3:38 of the first. The injury drew pained groans from the Canadian crowd at the Air Canada Centre during the replays of the submission.

“I had a strong inclination that he was not going to tap, so I took a deep breath and you guys saw what happened,” Mir said during the post fight press conference.

Mir now holds two “firsts” against Nogueira, having been the first fighter to knockout ‘Big Nog’ and now is the first to make the Brazilian tap.
