Former UFC lightweight title holder Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar (14-3-1) will get another opportunity to face featherweight champion Jose Aldo (21-1) after an official announcement was made during Tuesday nights “UFC Tonight” program on FUEL TV.

The two fighters will meet in Las Vegas in the main event of UFC 156 on Super Bowl weekend. The event will take place on February 2, 2013, no venue has been named at this time.

Both Edgar and Aldo were scheduled to meet earlier this month in the main event of UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil after Aldo’s original opponent, Erik Koch, withdrew from their fight due to injury.

‘The Truth’ enters this bout on back-to-back lightweight title match losses to Benson Henderson. The two faced off this past August at UFC 150, with Henderson winning a controversial split decision, and at UFC 144 in February of this year, with Henderson winning a unanimous decision. The UFC 144 defeat ended a seven fight undefeated streak for Edgar. Edgar’s last victory was a title defense versus Gray Maynard at UFC 136 after finishing ‘The Bully’ via first round knockout.

Aldo caries a fourteen fight win streak into his fifth straight WEC/UFC title defense. His last fight took place in January of this year in Brazil, with a last second knockout finish of Chad Mendes in the first round. Aldo’s other victories inside the Octagon include decision wins over Kenny Florian and Mark Hominick. The Brazilian captured the 145-lbs title back in November 2009 at WEC 44 with a second round TKO finish of Mike Brown.
