Drew Dober’s last appearance in the UFC ended in controversy, and he will have one more chance to win in the Octagon in Mexico City.
The UFC announced on Saturday that Dober is set to meet The Ultimate Fighter season 8 winner Efrain Escudero at Mexico City’s UFC 188 on June 13.
Dober (15-6, 1 no-contest) competed at last weekend’s UFC Fight Night 62 in Rio de Janeiro, but referee Eduardo Herdy stopped the bout when he thought Dober was out in a guillotine attempt by Leandro Silva. The Brazilian MMA commission later overturned the loss to a no-contest. Prior to that bout, Dober scored a surprising first-round finish over Jamie Varner.
Escudero (23-9), on the other hand, enters the event coming off a decision victory over Rodrigo de Lima in February. At 1-1 in his third UFC run (4-4 overall), Escudero looks to win consecutive fights in the UFC for the first time since 2009, when he beat Phillipe Nover to win TUF 8 and finished Cole Miller.
Headlined by Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum, UFC 188 takes place at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, and airs live on pay-per-view.
