Mo’ money, mo’ problems …

Bellator 206: “Mousasi vs. MacDonald” took place this past weekend (Sat., Sept. 29, 2018) at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., with Gegard Mousasi putting his recently-won Middleweight title on the line against Welterweight kingpin Rory MacDonald in the DAZN-streamed main event of the evening.

MacDonald took a tremendous beating on Saturday (recap here), but at least he can be consoled by the size of the check he cashed. For their efforts, both Mousasi and MacDonald pocketed a cool $150,000 in guaranteed money, according to the California State Athletic Commission.

They were not the only fighters on the main card who pocketed large checks for one night’s work. Indeed, co-main eventers Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Wanderlei Silva earned $300,000 and $200,000, respectively, for the fourth fight in a long-running series that dates back to Pride FC and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)

Not bad pay for one night’s work if you can get it.

Other notable payouts from the main card include Douglas Lima ($130,000) and Andrey Koreshkov ($55,000) with the winner of their fight advancing in the Welterweight Grand Prix. In addition, Aaron Pico pocketed $80,000 ($40,000 to show, $40,000 to win), while former Bantamweight contender Leandro Higo earned $14,000 for their bout.
