Pro fighters react to Conor McGregor’s shock retirement.

There’s been mixed reactions to Conor McGregor’s retirement this past weekend, with some fighters wishing him the best of luck and others accusing the Irishman of trying to steal the limelight from Amanda Nunes, who successfully defended her featherweight title against Felicia Spencer in the UFC 250 main event.

By far the biggest takeaway, though, came from newly-crowned interim UFC lightweight champ Justin Gaethje, who believes McGregor is ‘on another bender’ and may have announced his retirement while drunk on Proper No. 12.

“Thankfully all of the elderly are still hiding in their homes,” Gaethje wrote in reference to McGregor’s assault case from last year. “This guy is on another bender.”

Gaethje has been calling for a grudge match with McGregor for the better part of a year but, following ‘The Highlight’s’ TKO win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 249, Gaethje has switched his attention to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who he is expected to face in a lightweight title unification bout later this year.
