Of all the potential matchups in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight division, one that hasn’t been thrown around is one between former interim division champion, Tony Ferguson, and human highlight reel, Justin Gaethje.

With both men being allergic to boring fights, this potential scrap has all the makings of an all-out war capable of taking all of the post-fight bonuses. For his part, Justin will be more than happy to take a visit over to “El Cucuy’s” dark place.

“ That sounds fucking fantastic,” wrote Justin on Twitter in response to the potential scrap. “Take me to that dark place of yours @TonyFergusonXT.”

Fresh off back-to-back first round knockout wins over James Vick and Edson Barboza, Justin has had trouble locking down another fight, specifically once against Conor McGregor. Getting one with Ferguson, however, might prove as difficult.

That’s because “El Cucuy” likely punched his ticket to a world title fight this past weekend (Sat., June 8, 2019) after defeating Donald Cerrone at UFC 238 (highlights) to collect his twelfth straight win. And while UFC president Dana White was hesitant to confirm “Tony’s shot, he truly deserves it.

Then again, that’s the same person who recently stated Conor McGregor could get an rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov should “The Eagle” take out Dustin Poirier at UFC 242. This, despite the fact that Khabib strangled “Notorious” with relative ease just seven months ago.

Is normal.

For now, the 155-pound division is currently at a standstill — at least at the top – and likely won’t be get cleared up until Khabib and Poirier handle their business Abu Dhabi on September 7.
