After his split decision win over Jacare Souza, Kelvin Gastelum will not be considering any other fight unless it would be for the UFC middleweight title.

Right before his UFC 224 fight against Ronaldo Souza, Kelvin Gastelum wanted nothing but a convincing win, specifically a first-round knockout. For him, this was the only way he should be granted the next shot at the UFC’s middleweight title.

Gastelum did end up with a split-decision victory over the number two-ranked Jacare. Now, the 26-year-old TUF 17 alum says he would not be accepting any other fight unless it would be for the 185-pound title.

“I definitely feel like a title shot should be next,” Gastelum during the UFC 224 post-fight press conference (via MMA Fighting). “I don’t think I’d accept any other fight than the title shot. I’m the most active middleweight there has been. All the guys (I’ve beat) are top-10 and former champions, so I feel like I deserve it.”

“I definitely feel I deserve the shot. So I definitely feel like I will sit out until my shot is next.”

The UFC middleweight title is currently on the line at UFC 225, where champion Robert Whittaker will defend it against Yoel Romero in a rematch. It is set to take place on June 9th in Chicago.
