A very exciting welterweight clash is on tap for UFC 240.

Ordinarily a matchup between unranked welterweights wouldn’t yield an individual write-up, but there are exceptions to the rule.

MMAjunkie reported on Wednesday that Geoff Neal and Niko Price are slated to fight at UFC 240 on July 27th in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The bout has not yet been made official by the UFC.

Neal (11-2) was signed through Dana White’s Contender Series and sports a 3-0 record inside the Octagon. The Texas-based prospect raised eyebrows with a sensational KO of Frank Camacho at UFC 228 last September, and this past January dispatched Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision. His overall winning streak is at five, with his last loss coming to current UFC middleweight Kevin Holland.

Price (13-2, 1 NC) is arguably one of the most exciting fighters on the entire UFC roster. He’s coming off a sensational KO of Tim Means at UFC Wichita, just when it appeared as if Means had Price on the verge of being knocked out. Price also notably knocked Randy Brown out with hammerfists from the bottom last year. Niko’s two UFC defeats were a KO vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan and a submission vs. Vicente Luque.

UFC 240 currently features a men’s featherweight championship main event between reigning titleholder Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar. Meanwhile, former women’s featherweight champ Cris Cyborg is scheduled to return to action against the undefeated Felicia Spencer.
