It looks like Gilbert Burns has finally got the fight he’s been clamoring for but it’s not in the Octagon. Bloodyelbow.com can exclusively announce that the former world gi and nogi champ, Gilbert Durinho Burns has signed on to face one of the most popular names in grappling at Polaris 12.

While Burns is fresh off his victory over Gunnar Nelson at UFC Fight Night Copenhagen, he has elected to go back to his roots and show his versatility by taking on Tommy Langaker in a gi match.

While Burns has a storied history in the gi, he has focused on nogi for the last few years and was expected to feature at ADCC last month before instead taking a last-minute fight with Nelson.

Tommy Langaker is extremely technical and exciting. For those non-BJJ followers, Langaker holds a victory over a name you might recognize in Gordon Ryan. At purple belt, Langaker choked out the now 3-time ADCC champion in a gi match. Langaker won the world championships at brown and holds submission victories over Erberth Santos and Renato Canuto. Langaker recently won a hard fought match against Marcos Tinoco at Polaris 11.

Polaris 12 takes place at the international Convention Centre (ICC) in Newport and will air live on UFC Fight Pass.
