Gregor Gillespie has long been adamant that he will never call anyone out, as he prefers to take whoever is in front of him in order to get to the promised land. But the undefeated (13-0, 6-0) Lightweight has decided it’s time to play the game.

Taking to Instagram, “The Gift” took the opportunity to make his first call out a worthy one, as he called for a showdown against none other than former 155-pound champion, Anthony Pettis.

“So for the last 6 fights everyone has been pressuring and annoying me to call someone out….I never wanted to but it looks like I am going to have to play the game,” he said.

“I want my first ‘call out’ to count so…… @showtimepettis I think you are a great fighter, but you are in the wrong weight class, come back down to 155 and meet me at MSG on November 2,’ finished Gillespie, who was enjoying a nice bowl of Wheaties.

Gregor has made a quick impact so far in just six fights inside the Octagon. Known for his relentless pace and wrestling, “The Gift” has finished all but one of his UFC fights, making him one of the fastest-rising stars in the game today.

Of course, Pettis is now showing off his skills at Welterweight after making the move up earlier this year with a successful knockout debut over Stephen Thompson (see it). His sophomore effort, though, didn’t go as planned, as he came up on the wrong end of a decision loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 241 a few weeks back (highlights).

Anthony hasn’t talked much about his future moves since the defeat, as he is still nursing some injuries, including a busted orbital bone and foot. That said, “Showtime’s” coach did says the striking specialist is eying a return to action by the end of the year since no surgery is needed.

But is Gillespie the right man to welcome him back?
