The former Strikeforce featherweight, once billed as the women’s face of mixed martial arts (MMA), has since defected to Hollywood. While she started out in A-list pictures, “Conviction” has since scaled her way down to such direct-to-torrent classics as “Extraction.”
But hey, she was in Deadpool, so all is forgiven.
Carano is back in front of the camera with “Scorched Earth,” not to be confused with the shareware artillery game on DOS back in the nineties, though it plays out like the world was rocked with a few dozen MIRV attacks.

The planet suffered an environmental collapse. The air became dangerous to breathe, the water became toxic, and billions of people died. Generations later mankind has finally re-established a rudimentary society, in which bounty hunters roam the land in search of wanted eco-criminals. The film, now available on YouTube and Google Play, scored a whopping 11% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Carano (7-1) hasn’t competed since her technical knockout loss to Cris Cyborg back in summer 2009. Considering she turns 36 in April, the chances of her signing with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) are remote.
