Glover Teixeira vs. Misha Cirkunov moved to UFC on FOX 26

Light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira’s fight with Misha Cirkunov has been delayed to December, as Teixeira recovers from hand surgery.

Glover Teixeira won’t be fighting Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Brunson in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 28th. As Teixeira himself told MMA Fighting, following the UFC’s official announcement, Teixeira is still healing from hand surgery and won’t be ready for the fight in time.

“It wasn’t an injury. It was the hand surgery I did recently. The doctor said there was a possibility I could fight in October and I accepted the fight because I thought I would be able to do it, because I wanted to fight in Brazil, but I rushed things. My hand is not 100% yet, so it’s better to move this fight to December.”

In his last bout, Glover Teixeira was knocked out in the fifth round by Alexander Gustafsson, in May. Before that, he had a unanimous decision win over Jared Cannonier. at UFC 208. Cirkunov is coming off a knockout loss to Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Stockholm in May, marking the Canadian’s first defeat in the UFC.

Glover Teixeira will now meet Misha Cirkunov at UFC on FOX 26, in Winnipeg, Canada, on December 16th. That card doesn’t have a main event as of yet.
