Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, much like the game of chess, takes wit, intelligence, and foresight to reach the highest levels of the sport — something Kron Gracie has done prior to embarking on his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

I guess there isn’t enough RAM in the cache for anything else, as the featherweight phenom is now in the media pushing the “flat earth” theory, which is exactly what it sounds like: our planet is not a rotating sphere, but rather a flat disk that’s just kind of hanging out in the cosmos.

“Yeah, I believe the earth is flat,” Gracie told ESPN MMA (transcribed by Bloody Elbow). “Ultimately, no one really knows. Until you get into a rocket and you can fly up and really see, but I just have some doubts on some of these things. I just don’t know if there’s enough information for me to believe that the earth is spinning.”

I guess he missed all those rockets that already “flew up and really saw.”

But let’s be fair to Gracie and the rest of the Flat Boys and give them a chance to explain why the earth is more like a frisbee than a kickball. For that, we’ll hearken back to his conversation with Eddie Bravo in 2017, also transcribed by Bloody Elbow.

“From what I’ve collected in the universe, from what I’ve seen, I think there’s more things proving that the earth is flat, than it is spinning at a million miles per hour — or actually 666 per hour, which is f—king interesting,” Gracie said. “You’re telling me that we’re spinning, and we’re spinning around the sun, and the sun is shooting down this f—king shit, and we’re just sitting here chillin’ on this podcast like no big deal?? That’s always been crazy to me. It was just a baffling thing to try and grasp. So now I understand, and I really believe that the earth is flat, more so than the earth is round.”

This is ground control, to Major Kron…

Gracie (5-0) made his UFC debut earlier this month in Phoenix, Arizona, submitting Alex Caceres in the very first round (highlights). The Brazilian is expected to make his return to the Flatagon later this year.
