Another injury has forced another high profile fighter out of an upcoming Octagon appearance, after former lightweight contender Gray ‘The Bully’ Maynard (11-1-1) suffered a knee injury forcing him out of his UFC 155 bout versus Joe Lauzon (22-7).
The promotion was quick to find a replacement as Jim Miller (21-4) has now agreed to step in for Maynard at the Las Vegas event.
Promotion officials confirmed the news at UFC.com Wednesday evening.
A knee injury has forced longtime lightweight contender Gray Maynard out of his UFC 155 bout with Joe Lauzon on December 29 in Las Vegas. Stepping in for “The Bully” will be New Jersey standout Jim Miller in what promises to be another action-packed bout to remember.
UFC 155 is expected to take place on December 29, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bout between Miller and Lauzon is expected to appear on the pay-per-view main card.
Miller hasn’t been in action since this past May when he lost a title eliminator match with Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC on FOX 3, tapping out to the current No. 1 contender after a second round guillotine choke. The loss put’s Miller’s record at 1-2, with a submission win over Melvin Guillard at UFC on FX 1 in January and losing a decision to current champ Benson Henderson at UFC on Versus 5 in August of last year.
