UFC president Dana White announced today that the rematch between welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre (20-2) and Josh Koscheck (15-4) will take place in Montreal at UFC 124.
White confirmed the news with MMAFighting.com earlier today, noting that the two “The Ultimate Fighter” season 12 coaches will headline the promotions second 2010 visit to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec on Dec. 11. UFC 113 was the first event of 2010 held in Montreal.
St-Pierre has won seven straight UFC bouts, including four welterweight title defenses. His last win was over Dan Hardy at UFC 111 in March of this year. GSP earned a unanimous decision victory over the “Outlaw” to earn his twentieth professional win. The Quebec native has already beaten Koscheck back at UFC 74 in August of 2007, earning a unanimous decision in the fight.
Koscheck has won three straight fights, winning four of five, and defeated Paul Daley at UFC 113 to earn the title shot. Koscheck defeated Daley via unanimous decision at the Montreal event but was struck by the Brit after the third round bell. Daley was subsequently released from the UFC promotion. Koscheck’s other two wins were over Anthony Johnson at UFC 106 and Frank Trigg at UFC 103.
