Walt Harris speaks up on his disappointing TKO loss to Alistair Overeem on Saturday night.

UFC heavyweight Walt Harris was carrying a lot of emotional baggage heading into his headliner fight against Alistair Overeem on Saturday night. All of it was rooted in the tragic death of his stepdaughter Aniah Blanchard in October 2019.

Unfortunately for “The Big Ticket,” things didn’t go his way against the 40-year-old veteran. Harris did land a two-punch combo that floored Overeem in the first round, but the tables were soon turned moments later.

“The Demolition Man” finished the job in the second round and came out victorious via TKO.

Overeem did offer encouraging words for Harris, whom he invited to train with him sometime in the future. Harris also released a post-fight statement on social media, thanking his opponent, and promising to bounce back stronger.

First let me thank @alistairovereem for sharing the octagon we me tonight… You’re a class act brother and a legend! Tonight wasn’t my night, but you best believe I will be back better!

Thank to everyone for all your love and support can’t say it enough! We learn and grow! Baby girl… daddy loves you and I promise I will keep pushing! #ForeverAniah

Harris’ two fight streak was broken by the Overeem TKO, as he now drops to a record of 13-8 (with 1 NC and 13 wins by knockout).
