News of a heavyweight matchup between undefeated “TUF 10″ alumni Jon Madsen (7-0) and Chicago Police officer Mike Russow (13-1) was confirmed for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 24 event in March.
MMAWeekly.com was the first to confirm the matchup on Satuday.
Madsen is 4-0 in the UFC since making his professional debut as part of “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale” where he earned a split decision win over teammate Justin Wren. Since then he’s gone on to score a couple of unanimous decisions over Mostapha Al-turk and Karlos Vemola. In his last octagon appearance at UFC 121, Madsen stopped Gilbert Yvel in the first round of their bout via TKO.
Russow, most likely noted for his third round knockout of former UFC fighter Todd Duffee last May, has not made an octagon appearance since that fight due to a broken left ulna/forearm, which he suffered in that fight. Russow is now 2-0 in the UFC and is riding a 9 fight win streak. He made his UFC debut back in August of 2009 at UFC 102 where he earned a unanimous decision win over Justin McCully.
UFC Fight Night 24 has not been officially announced but the event is expected to take place on March 26 at the Key Arena in Seattle, Wash. The event should be headlined by a light-heavyweight matchup between Antônio Rogério Nogueira and Tito Ortiz.
