UFC welterweight Hector Lombard will be back in action in August.
Suspended for one year after testing positive for steroids following his win over Josh Burkman at UFC 182 in January, Lombard has been invited to compete at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club in Sao Paulo in August, and has accepted the challenge.
“I got invited to compete in the biggest grappling tournament in the world ADCC,” Lombard posted on his Facebook. “Can’t wait to compete and show off my judo and jiu-jitsu skills. Hope (to) win the big cash prize!”
Lombard will compete at the 99kg category. In 2013, Joao Assis came out with the gold medal in the division after defeating Dean Lister by points in the final.
ADCC 2015 takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from Aug. 28 to 30. Other MMA fighters were also invited to compete at the 2015, including former UFC champion Ben Henderson and Invicta FC champion Cris Cyborg.
The ADCC 2013 champions are automatically confirmed to compete in Sao Paulo, including the likes of Kron Gracie, Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida and Gabi Garcia.
Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu, who won the absolute division in 2013, will battle Andre Galvao in the ADCC 2015 superfight. Before that, Abreu faces Josh Barnett for the Metamoris heavyweight championship on May 9.
ADCC 2015 will also feature a pair of special superfights, featuring Renzo Gracie vs. Matt Hughes and American Top Team head coach Ricardo Liborio against PRIDE veteran Ze Mario Sperry.
