After Jack Hermansson outclassed Ronaldo Souza in all facets of the fight game Saturday night (April 27, 2019) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 150 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (see it again here), “The Joker” has his eyes on the big boys of the Middleweight division.

And they don’t get much bigger than Yoel Romero…literally.

The former two-time title contender has long been one of the most dominant and feared men in the 185-pounds division, as not only is he built like a rock, he hits like a truck and has wrestling skills for days.

Sure, Romero hasn’t won UFC gold yet, but his only losses since 2011 have come against current division king, Robert Whittaker. That’s why jack says fighting and defeating “Soldier of God” is the next best step for him to take, since it will more than likely secure him a shot at gold.

“We want the big boys. I have three names in mind, Yoel Romero, Kelvin Gastleum and Chris Wiedman, Those make sense for me,” said Jack on The Ariel Helwani MMA Show.

“We will go by the rankings there. Romero is probably the highest ranked. So, if you beat Romero, people will be just like, ‘he deserves the title shot.’ He is probably the hardest guy as well. He is a hard guy to beat and super dangerous. I want to beat the guy who earns me the title. So if that’s him, that’s the guy I want.”

Romero was initially slated to face off against Paulo Costa and then Jacare Souza at this past weekend’s event, but unforeseen sets of circumstances cancelled both of those proposed matchups.

Nevertheless, Yoel is gearing up for a return later this year, and if the promotion doesn’t book him against Paulo Costa, perhaps Hermansson vs Romero is on deck as outlined here.
