MMA: UFC Fight Night-Brown vs Baeza

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Rising welterweight prospect Miguel Baeza cashed in during his “Prelims” headliner earlier tonight (Sat., May 16, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 8 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., when he flattened veteran Matt Brown via second-round knockout (punch).

This was quite the fight. Brown, despite being 39 years of age, came out firing and ended up hurting Baeza along the cage with a vicious combination. Baeza kept his composure and returned the favor with heavy hands on the feet that knocked “Immortal” to the canvas. The second round was all Baeza as “Caramel Thunder” caught Brown with a nasty left-hand counter that sent the veteran crashing to the mat again. Baeza followed up with one final punch before the referee stepped in.

With this performance, Baeza pushes his undefeated professional record to 9-0 and captures the biggest victory of his young career. The talented welterweight did have to power through some early adversity in this bout but ended up taking care of business when it mattered most. This victory over Brown should land Baeza another big-name opponent his next time out.
