Welterweight prospect Miguel Baeza made good on his Octagon debut earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 12, 2019) at UFC Fight Night 161 live on ESPN+ from inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, when he put a stop to Hector Aldana via second-round TKO (calf kick and punches).
Despite an early feeling out period, Baeza was in control for most of this fight. His longer frame and patient approach on the feet allowed him to land a variety of strikers, including countless calf kicks. Aldana stood strong until Baeza landed yet another calf kick in the second round that put the Mexican fighter on his butt. Baeza followed up with vicious punches and elbows before the referee jumped in for the stoppage.

With this performance, Baeza scores big in his UFC debut and proves that he’s a unique prospect to watch in a crowded 170-pound class. The Florida native didn’t seem too bothered by the big lights and big spot at home so it’ll be interesting to see what he can do in his next outing.
