Derrick Lewis pulled off a big upset last night (Sat., Feb. 20, 2021) at UFC Vegas 19 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the heavyweight knockout king earned another finish by taking out surging contender Curtis Blaydes in the second round.
Lewis gained Blaydes’ respect early with a defended takedown and hard counter punches, but it didn’t take “Razor” long to start slicing through “Black Beast.” Blaydes scored with heavy lead leg kicks and punches down the pipe, as Lewis tried to load up and counter with looping punches that never found their mark.
In Round 2, however, Lewis did find his mark. As Blaydes tried to enter on a takedown “Black Beast” caught him with a nasty uppercut right on the chin. Blaydes stiffened up and fell to the canvas. Lewis followed up with scary right hands but the damage was already done.
