Daniel Cormier made things look easy last night (Sat., Nov. 3, 2018) at UFC 230 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, when he finished Derrick Lewis via second-round submission to retain his heavyweight championship.
In addition, “DC” becomes the first fighter in UFC history to defend both the light heavyweight and heavyweight titles.
It didn’t take Cormier long to impose his will in this fight and put “Black Beast” on his back. Lewis fought hard to return to his feet only to have Cormier snap him back down. The second round revealed a rejuvenated offense for Lewis as he started to find his range, but Cormier quickly resorted back to his ground game and secured back control. A tight rear-naked choke followed and Lewis was forced to tap for the first time in his career.

With this performance, Cormier grabs more UFC history as the only man to defend two titles inside of the Octagon. The 39-year-old continues to prove how superior of a fighter he truly is and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. It will be real entertaining to see Cormier square off with WWE superstar Brock Lesnar early next year.
