Tresean Gore returned to action earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 9, 2024) at UFC Vegas 100 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, coming off a two-year layoff to stop middleweight giant Antonio Trocoli with a nasty first-round submission (standing guillotine choke).
Gore, who has not fought since a submission win over Josh Fremd back in Oct. 2022, was still a betting favorite entering Saturday’s “Prelims” tilt. Trocoli, on the other hand, ended his near three-year layoff this past June when “Malvado” made his short-notice UFC debut against top prospect Shara Magomedov. As you may know, “Shara Bullet” won that fight with a dominant third-round TKO.
While Trocoli possessed a six-inch height advantage for this fight he didn’t have enough time to do much of anything in the early goin. Gore quickly launched in for a nice takedown, but Trocoli got right back to his feet. Gore then pressured along the cage and grabbed a hold of a tight guillotine choke. It looked like Trocoli was about to posture up and pop his head free, but Gore adjusted his squeeze and put a stop to the fight.
Check out the final moments in the above video player.
Gore, 30, is now 2-2 as a member of the UFC roster. He’s still a very green fighter having just six professional fights to his name, but “Mr. Violence” is showing some wrinkles to his game that he was expected to improve on being out for so long. If he can stay healthy in 2025 it will be interesting to see what Gore can do as he climbs the middleweight ladder.
