Davey Grant made the most out of the first official “Fight Island” bout earlier tonight (Sat., July 11, 2020) at UFC 251 live on ESPN from inside Flash Forum in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, as the English veteran finished bantamweight striker Martin Day via third-round knockout (punch).

Despite getting knocked down earlier into the first round, which may have broken his jaw, Grant kept cool and continued to pick Day apart. While Grant is known for his ground skills he was able to land some real good power shots on the feet. He continued his efforts in the third round during an exchange inside as he connected with a vicious combination that planted Day on the canvas for good.

With this performance, Grant not only captures his first finish inside of the Octagon but also locks down his first set of back-to-back wins since 2012. The 34-year-old veteran hasn’t been able to stay active over the past few years so this was well needed. If he stays busy Grant may be able to do some damage in the 135-pound division, especially if continues to evolve his punching power.
