Middleweight contender Ian Heinisch proved his worth earlier tonight (Sat., June 6, 2020) at UFC 250 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, when the power puncher ran over formidable veteran Gerald Meerschaert via TKO just 74 seconds into the first round. Remember, Heinisch thought he wasn’t even going to fight tonight.
Heinisch took all of the drama from these past few days and took it out on Meerschaert from the opening bell. He leveled “GM3” with a huge overhand right that knocked him to the ground. Heinisch then followed up with massive ground-and-pound as Meerschaert tried to cover up. It didn’t matter, Heinisch wasn’t going to be denied.

With this performance, Heinisch reenters the middleweight win column after losing back-to-back decisions to close out 2019. He has always possessed this type of finishing power but he just needed to put everything together. This is an important win for Heinisch as he tries to push his way up a very busy 185-pound ladder enter the second half of 2020.
