The co-main event between Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus ended in an unfortunate no contest earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 2, 2021) at UFC Vegas 38 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he the two middleweights clashed heads in the first round.
Daukaus did what he said he was going to do and immediately shot for takedowns. Holland did well to defend, but Daukaus was still controlling the fight. Holland was able to break free and when the two middleweights met in the middle of the Octagon for an exchange they badly clashed heads. Holland was practically knocked out, but quickly started to defend. Daukaus wasted no time jumping on Holland and eventually applied a tight rear-naked choke that forced the tap.
However, after the fight was over referee Dan Miragliotta reviewed the accidental head butt with cageside officials and ruled the fight a no contest.
