Veronica Macedo etched her name in the record books earlier today (Sat., Aug. 10, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 14 live on ESPN+ from inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay, when she scored the fastest submission finish in UFC women’s flyweight history with a 69-second armbar of Polyana Viana.
During a scramble on the ground early into the first round Macedo was able to throw up a nasty armbar attempt off her back. Viana squirmed and wiggled free just for a second before Macedo re-tuned her grip and put even more pressure on the Brazilian’s arm. Viana had nothing left to do but tap.

With this performance, Macedo locks down her first UFC victory after coming up short in three previous Octagon appearances against the likes of Andrea Lee, Ashlee Evans-Smith, and Gillian Robertson. This was actually the first UFC fight in Uruguay and Macedo made the most of it. Look for UFC to push the 24-year-old a little further in her next contest, as she remains one of the more promising young talents at 125 pounds.
