Abus Magomedov turned in a fairly dominant performance earlier today (Sat., Oct. 26, 2024) at UFC 308 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE, stopping fellow middleweight contender Brunno Ferreira with a third-round submission (arm-triangle choke).
Magomedov looked massive entering this fight. He was able to use his length and range early to stay out of trouble and away from Ferreira’s power. The spacing also allowed Magomedov to time a few nice takedowns and entries that had Ferreira guessing along the way.
It looked like Magomedov was going to do the same in the second round, but he tired a bit and it allowed Ferreira to move inside and land a huge punch and kick that stunned Magomedov. He recovered, though, and went back to the wrestling well in the third and final frame. That eventually led to full mount and an arm-triangle attempt. Ferreira had never been submitted entering Saturday’s fight, but Magomedov’s squeeze was tight and he forced the tap.

Magomedov, 34, is now riding a two-fight win streak in the UFC’s middleweight division after outlasting veteran Warlley Alves back in May. Things seem to be looking up for the Russian contender as he improves his conditioning, grappling, and all-around Octagon assault entering 2025.
