Jorge Masvidal record UFC history last night (Sat., July 6, 2019) at UFC 239 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he finished previously undefeated Ben Askren via knockout just five seconds into the first round.

The second the fight started Masvidal rushed in and landed a clean flying knee to the head of Askren as “Funky” shot in for a takedown. Askren immediately went limp and Masvidal landed two more vicious right hands that further stiffened the welterweight wrestler. Askren was very slow to his feet, but eventually came to.

The aftermath can be seen above and below courtesy of UFC/ESPN.

With this performance, Masvidal records UFC history en route to defeating an undefeated contender many believed to be on the fast track to a UFC title shot. “Gamebred” has been around for a very long time and has simply never looked better, which was proven yet again tonight at UFC 239. The winner of Colby Covington vs. Robbie Lawler may want a piece of the pie too, but Masvidal should be the next contender in line for a welterweight title shot.
