Rising boxing prospect and Floyd Mayweather Jr. protege, Curmel Moton, shined on the main card of ‘Mayweather vs. Gotti 2’ last night (Sat., Aug. 24, 2024) LIVE on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, delivering a first-round knockout over Victor Vazquez. It was Moton’s third victory of the year.
Moton, who is just 18 years old, came into this high-profile opportunity on a Mayweather-led event a sizeable betting favorite. He had started his career with a 4-0 record and three knockouts (two in the first round) so fight fans knew the action would start early and often. Not to mention Moton is Mayweather’s current boxing protege.
It took just 55 seconds for Moton to unload heavy shots and land a massive combination along the ropes that ended with a slamming right hand. Vazquez fell straight backwards into the ropes and was clearly out of it. He attempted to get all the way back to his feet, but the referee stepped in for the stoppage.
The finish was one of the best performances of the night and a great way for Moton to introduce himself to a larger collection of fight fans. Check out the video highlights below:
