Kevin Lee made a momentous return to the UFC’s lightweight division last night (Sat., Nov. 2, 2019) at UFC 244 live on ESPN+ from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, when he put an end to previously undefeated contender Gregor Gillespie via first-round knockout (head kick).
Lee commanded the center of the Octagon from the opening bell and forced Gillespie to play his game on the feet. “Motown Phenom” started to land a little bit and moved in for more. That’s when Lee caught “The Gift” with an incredible right hand, left head kick combination that instantly put Gillespie to sleep along the cage. It was one of the most vicious knockout you’ll ever see.

With this performance, Lee cashes in on a huge opportunity to start off the UFC 244 PPV main card and prove that he’s still a top dog at 155 pounds. Lee has been in some pretty big fights throughout his UFC career but this is likely his most impressive performances to date. It’s exactly what he needed to regain momentum in a division stacked with interesting matchups.
