Veteran fighter Lauren Murphy scored the biggest win of her professional career earlier today (Sat., Aug. 3, 2019) at UFC on ESPN 5 inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, when she put a brutal end to Italian contender Mara Romero Borella via third-round TKO (knee and elbows).
Both flyweights scored early and often in this fight, but neither did serious damage to hamper the other. That was until the third round when Murphy landed a nice uppercut that bothered Borella. A few moments later Murphy was able to find a home for a brutal knee as the Italian fighter was returning to her feet and scored the knockdown. Follow-up elbows by Murphy eventually spelled the end for Borella and forced the referee’s hand.

With this performance, Murphy gets back into the UFC win column after dropping a decision to Sijara Eubanks 16 months ago. In total, she has finished eight of her 11 career wins by way of knockout or TKO. That’s pretty impressive.
The 36-year-old veteran has really only lost to top contenders throughout her UFC career so maybe this finish will spark a lengthy win streak for Murphy in 2020.
