Middleweight knockout artist John Phillips struck again earlier today (Sat., Sept. 28, 2019) at UFC Fight Night 160 live on ESPN+ from inside Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, when he ended Alen Amedovski via knockout just 17 seconds into the first round.
Both fighters bit down on their mouthpiece and fired away early. Amedovski certainly threw quicker hands but it was Phillips who landed the more meaningful shots. After connecting with a few counter lefts that stunned Amedovski, Phillips found a home for a huge left hook that planted the Macedonian on the canvas for good.

With this performance, Phillips gets his first Octagon victory and ends a three-fight losing streak dating back to his UFC debut early last year. “The Welsh Wrecking Machine” has always possessed elite punching power and finally showed it against a fighter willing to throw down. If Phillips can continue to find his windows of opportunity he should be able to do even more damage en route to a shot at a top 15 opponent.
