Carlos Prates continued his incredible UFC run earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 9, 2024) at UFC Vegas 100 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, earning his fourth-straight knockout finish with a devastating first-round stoppage over welterweight mainstay Neil Magny.
Prates came into Saturday night on a 10-fight win streak (3-0 UFC) with nine-straight knockouts. The Brazilian striker has quickly gained the attention of UFC brass and fight fans everywhere, which is why he headlined his first UFC event on Saturday night just nine months removed from his debut. Magny was certainly Prates’ toughest test to date, but “Nightmare” was still a massive betting favorite in his main event showcase.
While Magny was able to make this fight a grappling match in the early going his luck quickly ran out once Prates kept his distance. Prates landed a big right hand with just under two minutes left in the first round that stunned Magny. The veteran contender was able to stay alive until the final moments of the frame as Prates uncorked a nasty left hand in close. It didn’t even land completely flush, but it still rattled off Magny’s temple and slept him in his tracks.

Prates, 31, is now 4-0 in UFC since making his debut this past February. The Fighting Nerds member has looked better and better each time out as he’s punched his way past every fighter UFC has thrown his way. Prates called for a matchup against high-ranked contender Jack Della Maddalena early next year at UFC 312 in Australia, but that may be just out of reach for the Brazilian finisher. He also called out knockout artist Geoff Neal, who is coming off a stoppage over Rafael dos Anjos last month at UFC 308.
