Raul Rosas Jr. impressed yet again earlier tonight (Sat., June 8, 2024) at UFC Louisville live on ESPN+ from inside KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, as the 19-year-old prospect scored a second-round submission (rear-naked choked) over former Ultimate Fighter standout Ricky Turcios.
Turcios came out firing with whipping leg kicks and strikes from range. Rosas Jr., who came into this main card affair as a sizeable betting favorite, was simply waiting for his chance to shoot in for a takedown. It eventually came and Rosas Jr. was able to turn the fight into a grappling match. Turcios had some good transitions and even took Rosas Jr.’s back at one point, but the young kid was in control.
Rosas Jr. quickly went back to the well in the second round and had Turcios’ back with four minutes left on the clock. With plenty of time to work, Rosas Jr. eventually found a window for a rear-naked choke. Turcios fought off his first attempt as it was still on the chin, but once Rosas Jr. snuck it around Turcios’ neck that was all she wrote.
