Sean Strickland extended his current UFC win streak to five last night (Sat., July 31, 2021) at UFC Vegas 33 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he dominated veteran contender Uriah Hall by unanimous decision in the main event.
Strickland dictated the action early with a lead jab and constant pressure. Hall was pedaling back for most of the first round but started to land some good punches over the top towards the end. Strickland kept pushing forward in the second as he swarmed “Prime Time” with inside punches and elbows. Hall gained a little momentum in the second half but an inadvertent low blow by Strickland ruined the tempo.
Hall looked better entering the third but an exchange inside left “Prime Time” in serious trouble as Strickland seemed to land a shot to the back of the ear. Strickland jumped on top for heavy ground-and-pound and fight was nearly stopped. Hall somehow survived but was absolutely exhausted from the recovery, which allowed Strickland to land another takedown and full control.
It was much of the same in the fourth round as Strickland controlled the distance and landed his lead jab with ease. Hall couldn’t find a window for much of anything as Strickland scored and quickly circled out of the pocket. Hall mustered up all he could for the fifth round to try and score a late finish, but Strickland’s pace was unflappable and allowed him to cruise to the win.
