Sean O’Malley made a masterful return to the Octagon earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 7, 2020) at UFC 248 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he finished gritty veteran Jose Quinonez with a vicious first-round TKO (head kick and punches).
O’Malley was coming back from a two-year hiatus yet still came out swinging. The 25-year-old prospect launched whipping body kicks and leg kicks that started to bust Quinonez up. Quinonez nearly landed a big right counter but “Sugar” was too quick out of the pocket. During an exchange along the cage O’Malley landed a blistering head kick that buckled Quinonez. O’Malley followed it up with a stiff upper cut, Quinonez fell to the canvas, and the referee stepped in after a few more punches from “Sugar.”

With this performance, O’Malley makes a momentous return to the fight game and proves he deserves the spotlight he received this weekend in Vegas. “Sugar” is now 3-0 in UFC (11-0 overall) and looks to be better than ever after having two years to build his skill set. Hopefully he’s able to remain active moving forward because the sky is the limit for the booming bantamweight.
