Jalin Turner put an absolute beating on Bobby Green earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 2, 2023) at UFC Austin live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside Moody Center in Austin, Tex., but it was referee Kerry Hatley who cost “King” unnecessary punishment.
Turner was filling in on short notice, but you wouldn’t have known. The lightweight contender was quick out of the gate and looked comfortable from range. Green would get tagged most of the time he entered inside so it was difficult for “King” to find his rhythm.
That’s when Turner came out of nowhere and clobbered Green with a right hand to the temple. Green was put on skates and Turner instantly pounced. He quickly took top control and started to land vicious punches to Green. The referee saw more than enough to warrant a stoppage, but he didn’t step in. Turner kept viciously beating on Green, who looked to be completely unconscious. The referee finally jumped in about 10 seconds and 20 punches too late.
Luckily, Green was able to recover from the extra shots. He was certainly wobbly after the fight, but he’s fortunate that referee Hatley’s bonehead decision didn’t cost him more than just a loss.
