One of the best head kick finishes of the year happened last night (Fri., Sept. 14, 2018) at GLORY 58 from inside Sears Centre in Chicago, Illinois, when welterweight Troy Jones knocked Casey Greene out cold with a furious right head kick just one minute into Round 1.
In case you missed the action, the video replay can be seen above courtesy of UFC Fight Pass.
Jones, who is now 2-0 under the GLORY banner, was expected to fight fellow welterweight winner Mike Lemaire later in the evening, but Lemaire was deemed medically unfit to continue after sustaining injuries in his victory over Omar Moreno. Justin Moss, who also won earlier in the evening, was going to step in to fight Jones, but doctors didn’t clear him either.
As a result, Jones was named the winner of the four-man welterweight qualification tournament and walks away with the best finish of his young career. The highlight reel head kick may very well capture “Knockout of the Year” honors when it’s all said and done.
Pretty impressive stuff.
