Westin Wilson pulled off a huge upset win earlier tonight (Sat., June 15, 2024) at UFC Vegas 93 live on ESPN2/ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping promising featherweight prospect Jeka Saragih with a first-round submission (triangle armbar).
Wilson came into this fight with a questionable chin and an underdog tag, but the towering featherweight pushed through all of that to implement some early grappling. He was able to score a slamming takedown and immediately threatened with submission attempts. Saragih was on the defensive right away.
After picking up and slamming Wilson to try to shake off a tight triangle armbar attempt Saragih only put himself in deeper trouble. Wilson kept cranking and squeezing to eventually force Saragih to tap. It was quite the performance by Wilson and an early post-fight bonus candidate.

Wilson, 35, came into this fight riding back-to-back knockout losses to start his UFC career. Saragih came out firing early to test his chin and nearly landed fight-ending shots, but Wilson remained calm and stuck to his own gameplan, which was to wrestle at all costs. The triangle armbar finish was only the 12th of its kind in UFC history.
