Fares Ziam delivered the biggest win of his career thus far earlier today (Sat., Sept. 28, 2024) at UFC Paris live on ESPN+ from inside Accor Arena in Paris, France, stopping lightweight veteran Matt Frevola with a devastating third-round knockout (knee).
Frevola was coming off a knockout loss to UFC Paris headliner, Benoit Saint Denis, in his last UFC outing so this trip overseas was a big moment for “Steamrolla.” Unfortunately for Frevola, Ziam was absolutely dialed in from the opening bell and offered little opportunity for his opponent to lead the dance.
Ziam looked good from range, inside the clinch, and even on the mat with sharp ground-and-pound. Frevola is a tough guy and hung around long enough to battle Ziam into the third. Sadly for “Steamrolla,” he didn’t make it to the final bell. That’s because Ziam absolutely destroyed Frevola with a nasty knee in the clinch with two minutes on the clock. Frevola instantly went unconscious and fell to the ground. Ziam landed one final shot, but Frevola was out cold.

Ziam, 27, came into this bout riding a three-fight win streak, but he had yet to score a finish in seven total Octagon appearances. The French lightweight was a slight favorite for his hometown fight, but Ziam performed above and beyond any pre-fight betting odds. He has now won four in a row and is closer to challenging the top 15 in 2025.
