Conor McGregor is one of the most famous athletes in the world today and that is unlikely to change as “Notorious” gears up for a massive 2020 campaign (whenever the UFC schedule happens to resume).
While McGregor’s recent TKO win over Donald Cerrone this past January was his first Octagon victory since 2016, the Irish superstar has remained in the spotlight over the past few years. McGregor may have struggled outside of the cage with his many legal issues, but becoming a UFC double champ and securing a moneyfight with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. has certainly kept “Notorious” at the forefront of the combat scene.
Because of this, McGregor’s reach stretches far beyond just MMA. He has become an iconic name synonymous with both sports and entertainment and is now being sampled in a new rap song entitled “Stupid Again,” which was recently dropped by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez.
The song can be accessed below courtesy of Tory Lanez’s YouTube channel. It features one of McGregor’s most infamous quotes.
“I’d like to take this chance to apologise,” begins the track. “To absolutely nobody!”
Of course, this sound bite comes from McGregor’s post-fight interview after he knocked out Eddie Alvarez back at UFC 205 to claim the lightweight world title. McGregor was also the UFC featherweight champion at the time and ultimately used his “champ-champ” status to score a massive $100 million payday against Mayweather.
Lanez, 27, is an award-winning rapper, singer, composer, and record producer from Ontario, Canada. He currently has over 8 million Instagram followers and over 15 million monthly listeners on Spotify so his exposure is pretty significant. This “Stupid Again” track has already produced over 100,000 views on YouTube, despite being published just two days ago.
