An injury to Swedish based fighter Reza ‘Mad Dog’ Madadi (11-2) has postponed the lightweights upcoming Octagon debut, leaving opponent Fabrício ‘Morango’ Camões (13-6-1) without an opponent, until today.
With just five days to go before the UFC on FX 1 event, Ultimate Fighting Championship officials identified a replacement for Madadi on Monday, naming undefeated fighter Tom Hayden (8-0) as Camões new opponent.
Swedish prospect Reza Madadi’s entry into the UFC will be postponed, as he is unable to compete in Nashville this week. Taking his place in the lightweight bout against Fabricio Camoes will be undefeated Tommy Hayden, a Jorge Gurgel protege. Camoes himself was a late replacement called to duty after Madadi’s original opponent, Rafaello Oliveira, was injured.
UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller (aka UFC on FX 1) is scheduled to take place on January 20, 2012 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Camões (pictured) makes his return to the UFC after making his last appearance in March 2010. Since then the Brazilian has gone on to win twice with the Tachi Palace Fights promotion, earning victories over Steve Lopez and Efrain Escudero. Camões debuted at UFC 106, fighting Caol Uno to a majority draw, and was submitted by Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 111.
Hayden has yet to lose in his pro-career, which began in 2008. The Team Jorge Gurgel product has finished seven of his eight opponents by either (T)KO or by submission. The other victory came via disqualification. Hayden fought just once in 2011, earning a first round submission win at an Absolute Action MMA event in Kentucky.
